Michael Campo Jr.
A teacher at heart with a love for Scripture, the local church, and the Jewish roots of Christianity.
Called to teach the Word
Michael was born in a suburb of Chicago to Catholic parents. He was sixteen when his father, Mike Campo Sr., received Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Shortly thereafter, God called Mike Sr. into ministry, specifically Jewish missions.
Although Michael had repeatedly heard the Gospel from his father, he had a stronger desire for the things of the world—primarily drugs—than for the things of God. During the trials caused by addiction, God brought a concerned believer and former addict into his life. That mentor encouraged him to enter a Teen Challenge rehabilitation program. Michael returned home four months later not only free from drugs, but a born-again believer.
In 1994, God called Michael into ministry. His pastor and others encouraged him to use his gift of teaching for the Body of Messiah and the glory of God. After fifteen successful years as an insurance agent, Michael and his wife, Lorena, sold their home and invested the proceeds in a Bible college education. They moved with their two daughters to Dubuque, Iowa, where he attended Emmaus Bible College.
Following graduation, Michael served the Lord as a pastor, church planter, and conference speaker. Michael and Lorena now live in Illinois, where he pastors Living Word Bible Church. He also serves as a Church Ministries Representative for CJF Ministries, teaching the Jewish roots of Christianity in churches and conferences.
Pastor Campo is an expositor at heart who enjoys teaching through books of the Bible.
